Chairman's Corner

March 8, 2008

Dear NECA Chairman & Trustee Carlson, Don Campbell, and all fellow NECA Members,

Trustee Given's summary and opinion of Tuesday night's discussion at the NECA branch meeting regarding the Trust was dismaying to both of us. It was very apparent that our membership, at least the most vocal ones, do not have factual information about the work the Trust has done and continues to do. It was also apparent that what little information is out there is basically rumors, and these rumors are creating a "lynch mob" mentality.

This hostility has been brewing for some time. In an attempt to keep the membership advised and up to date, we added an agenda item to the NECA monthly branch meetings to inform the membership what is taking place. In addition to that, per the CBA, Don Campbell was made a Trustee to insure that the Trust always conducted its business properly. Don has attended all Trust meeting since his appointment, and the Trust's website has always been available for viewing at any time to any party interested in staying up to date on what is going on.

It is obvious that this is not enough!  Some members are demanding "transparency". (?)

In an effort to clear the air, answer all questions, and take any suggestions, we request that NECA devote one of the upcoming monthly meetings to the Trust. At that meeting the membership can learn of the history, accomplishments, and purpose of the Trust. All Trustees will attend and be available for discussion. We hope this meeting can be held in a business like manner, and without personal attacks or vendettas getting in the way of coherent discussion. We are sure that at the conclusion of this meeting our membership will have the information to form an accurate opinion of the Trust.

Respectfully Submitted
,

Thomas Curran, Chairman Robert Spinardi, Vice Chairman
